I've been an avid bitcoin fan for about 5 years. In fact, you could say that I've been obsessed -- checking the price every 10 minutes, and telling everyone MUCH more than they ever wanted to know. Bitcoin is my first thought every morning, and my last thought before falling asleep. I am an addict.
I'm a long-term hodler. I've made thousands of posts on bitcointalk, r/bitcoin
, and Facebook. I've submitted hundreds of comments on MSM articles about bitcoin. When the media gets it wrong, I'm there to set them straight. I give bitcoins as gifts to family and friends, whether they like it or not.
However, I'm feeling recently that bitcoin is letting me down. We all need to remember that the real enemy is the banksters who steal from everyone using evil ploys like debt-based currencies, fractional reserve banking, quantitative easing, inflation, and rejecting ETF proposals. Rather than hating on each other, can't we pull together and just solve the scaling problem, and the other problems that confront us? Let's make Bitcoin great again!
Meanwhile, while we are paralyzed by infighting, some of bitcoin's agile cousins are passing us by -- fast confirmations, greater throughput, true programmable money. If we're so focused on warring among ourselves that we cannot innovate, I believe we are doomed to become the MySpace of cryptocurrency. Our competitors are leaving us in the dust!
I think perhaps a good start would be for the entire community to observe the golden rule -- to paraphrase, be excellent to each other.
TL;DR Remember that the banksters are the enemy, not your fellow bitcoiners, even when they don't agree with you on everything. So PLEASE be excellent to each other!
